The introduction of the awesome Yamaha F200/225/250 series was acknowledged as a landmark in outboard history; the introduction of the most powerful and technically advanced four-strokes ever produced. Since they are now widely regarded also as the most impressive and stylishly designed engines ever to grace the stern of a boat, one thing is certain; this is the ultimate outboard experience.
In addition to their phenomenal power, performance and acceleration, these engines are three of the cleanest, quietest, smoothest and most sophisticated ever to hit the water thanks to, among other things, a unique EFI system, a micro-processor ECU, VCT (Variable Camshaft Timing), blow-by gas re-burning technology, and special noise reduction systems.
Is that the end of the story? Well, not quite! Like all 2007 EFI engines, these too are now fitted with a connector port for the amazing new Yamaha LAN system, with its sophisticated range of Digital Network Gauges.
 

Until the introduction of the stunning F200/F250 series, nothing else came close to achieving the speed and power-to-weight ratio of these four power and feature-packed outboards. A major contributing factor to their incredible performance is Yamaha's unique Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) system, in which a micro-computer analyses and adjusts the fuel/air mixture to perfection under all running conditions; so starting has never been easier, acceleration never smoother, fuel economy never better, nor exhaust emissions cleaner.
All four engines in this powerband feature the most advanced 16-valve, four-stroke technology and Dual Overhead Camshaft (DOHC) configuration, whilst the cutting-edge designs for intake and exhaust systems have further improved combustion efficiency, enabling you to attain very high speeds smoothly, cleanly and economically, with total reliability.
The remarkable array of features incorporated into all these models has brought about some equally remarkable advances in ease of operation, driving controland long-term durability. Examples are PrimeStart™ chokeless starting, the wide-range Power Trim & Tilt system, and the in-built sacrificial anodes for optimum protection of the powerhead against corrosion. Every one of these neat, stylish twin-cylinder four-strokes is a class leader, with a host of advantages; among them are easy handling and control, strong performance, smoothness, fuel economy, reduced exhaust emissions, and amazing versatility, all of which make them the perfect choice for commercial, professional or leisure use.
The F15 and F20 are brand new for 2007, with sleek new cowling designs, as well as some special features normally found only on larger engines; computer-controlled ignition, a special light-load starting system, a water-cooled fuel pump and a large volume silencer are just a few examples.
Single-lever steering friction adjustment, a high-output alternator and our Power Tilt system (not available on F9.9) and Power Trim and Tilt on the F25, are other attractive features of these engines, which are the lightest and most compact in their power class.

On the FT50 and FT60, a large diameter propeller and special gear ratio is used to similar effect.
